Human Resocia Survey - IT Engineers Around the World - vol.3 IT education at universities around the world

India, which has a great number of IT human resources, Japan is on a downward trend, and it is clear that the IT human resources supply capacity is declining.
Human Resocia Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director:
Mitsugu Otaya, hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), which is a subsidiary of Human Holdings Co., Ltd. and operates a human resources service business, is now at universities around the world (* 1). We surveyed the number of graduates in the IT field and announced it as "IT Engineer Report vol.3, an independent survey on IT education at universities around the world, looking at data from 92 countries."
As for the subject of the current report, IT graduates, majored in information and communication technology, likely working as an IT engineer after graduation, and since science, mathematics are used in fields of AI (artificial intelligence) and big data analysis, etc., therefore we surveyed graduates who majored in STEM (* 2) related fields at universities of 92 countries, regions.

Number of graduates in the IT field in the world: Country report

■ Number of graduates in the IT field, 1st India, 2nd USA, 3rd Russia, Japan 34,000, 9th

Looking at the number of graduates in the IT field majoring in information and communication technology by country, India (550,000) was ranked first, the United States (148,000) was second, and Russia (93,000) was third. (Figure ③). Although the same data cannot be obtained for China, the number of university graduates in the engineering major was 1.18 million, which is more than double that of India, which is 550,000.
Japan also ranked 9th with 34,000 people. Among other Asian countries, the Philippines (77,000), Myanmar (46,000), Indonesia (39,000), Malaysia (30,000), etc. ranked in the top 10 in 5th place. doing.

■ The number of graduates in the IT field, the highest rate of increase is Armenia with an increase of 183.3%, and Japan is a decrease of 1.4%.

Regarding the number of graduates in the IT field, when we calculated the rate of increase compared to the most recent year when data could be obtained in chronological order (Figure ④), Armenia ranked first with an increase of 183.3%. Hungary was second with an 81.7% increase, and Slovenia was third with a 66.3% increase.
On the other hand, while moving toward the promotion of DX (digital transformation), the number of graduates is decreasing, down 1.4% in Japan, where the shortage of IT human resources is being criticized.

■ Estimating the supply capacity of IT engineers, 1st Myanmar, 2nd Iran, 3rd Philippines

As a reference for looking at the supply and demand balance of IT engineers in each country, the ratio of the number of graduates in the IT field to the number of active IT engineers was calculated, and Myanmar ranked first with 244.4% (Figure ⑤). In Myanmar, about 2.5 times as many IT graduates as active IT engineers are produced annually. Iran (58.3%) came in second, followed by the Philippines (42.9%). Emerging countries with high economic growth are ranked high, and it is thought that these countries are focusing on developing IT human resources for economic development. The higher this number, the more graduates who can become IT engineers have been produced, and it can be inferred that the supply capacity of IT engineers is high.
On the other hand, looking at the G7 member countries, which are called developed countries, Japan is only around 3-4%, except for Italy, which is 0.8%, such as 3.1% in Japan, 3.1% in the United States, and 3.0% in Germany (Figure ⑥).
